In this example, I will show you how to set up file permissions in laravel. this example will help you laravel folder permissions. I would like to show you how to set up file permissions for laravel. We will look at an example of laravel storage permission denied ubuntu. you will do the following things for how to set storage folder permissions in laravel.

Security is a key feature of each and every project so here I will show how to set up file permission in laravel project. I will show you how to give storage folder permissions in laravel. let's see two solutions to give folder permission with laravel.

You can use this example with laravel 6, laravel 7, laravel 8, and laravel 9 versions.

Example 1:

Here, we will give 755 permission to storage and bootstrap folder permission. let's run the below commands:

sudo chmod -R 755 bootstrap/cache
sudo chmod -R 755 storage
Example 2:

Here, we will give file permission to the www-data user. let's follow the below command:

We will give all files and folder ownership as the webserver user. run below command.

sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/your-project-path

Here, set 644 permission for all files and 755 for all directories. run below command.

cd /var/www/your-project-path
sudo chgrp -R www-data storage bootstrap/cache 
sudo chmod -R ug+rwx storage bootstrap/cache 

permission all the files have owner and group-owner to a web server. "ubuntu" is a system username. you have to replace it with your system username.

sudo usermod -a -G www-data ubuntu

Now, it works.
